Two Brief Tornadoes South Of Artesia, NM - Sunday, June 8, 2014.

By far this is the biggest hail stone I've seen yet.

My wife (Diane) and I went storm chasing this past Sunday, June 8, 2014. We observed two brief tornadoes south of Artesia, New Mexico during one of the biggest severe weather outbreaks in years.

The first tornado touched down 4 miles south-southwest of Artesia...or 2 miles west of the intersection of South 13TH St. & Blevins Rd at 6:16 PM MDT.

The second tornado touched down 8 miles south of Artesia just west of US Hwy 285 near Kincaid Rd at 6:28 PM MDT. It was on the ground for at least one minute maybe a couple more.

This supercell thunderstorm produced an enormous amount of golf ball to grapefruit size hail from Artesia to south of Carlsbad. Please visit the link below to view my blog with more photos of that hail.
