SEVERAL TRAINED WEATHER SPOTTERS AND PUBLIC RESIDENTS OBSERVED A
COLD AIR FUNNEL (FUNNEL CLOUD) IN SOUTHWEST ROSWELL JUST BEFORE 1 PM
MDT ON MAY 05 2014. AROUND 1255 PM MDT THIS FUNNEL CLOUD AND
ASSOCIATED CIRCULATION BRIEFLY MADE CONTACT WITH THE GROUND...CAUSING
DAMAGE TO STRUCTURES NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF EISENHOWER AND LA QUINTA
IN SOUTHWEST ROSWELL. STRUCTURES THAT WERE DAMAGED INCLUDE 2
OUTBUILDINGS WITH DAMAGE TO ROOFS AND WALLS. A NATIONAL WEATHER
SERVICE METEOROLOGIST SURVEYED AND ASSESSED THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY
AND DAMAGE TO THESE OUTBUILDINGS. THE DAMAGE WAS DETERMINED TO BE
CONSISTENT WITH A AN EF0 RATING. FORTUNATELY NO INJURIES OR
FATALITIES WERE REPORTED.

EF SCALE: THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE CLASSIFIES TORNADOES INTO
THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES.

EF0...WEAK......65 TO 85 MPH
EF1...WEAK......86 TO 110 MPH
EF2...STRONG....111 TO 135 MPH
EF3...STRONG....136 TO 165 MPH
EF4...VIOLENT...166 TO 200 MPH
EF5...VIOLENT...>200 MPH
