Hot Start To October - Much Cooler By The Weekend.
Hot Today Into Thursday.
Welcome to October, but the next couple of days will for more like the first of July temperature-wise. Our forecast high temps today, tomorrow, and Thursday for Carlsbad are 96F. Roswell, Artesia, and Hobbs are forecast to be in the low-mid 90's.
The 30-year average (1981-2010) average high and low temps for October 1st for Carlsbad is 82/54, and Roswell 81/52. So our highs today into Thursday will be running some 10-15 degrees above normal.

Friday will be warm as a strong cold front approaches the local area from the north. This front will push southward through the area Friday night, and will be located across the Texas Big Bend Country by Saturday morning. Strong gusty northerly winds will accompany the frontal passage. Much cooler air will overspread southeastern New Mexico and surrounding areas behind the front this weekend. Our highs on Saturday are forecast to range from the upper 60's to the low 70's. Lows Sunday morning will range from near 40 to the mid 40's.
