Another does of arctic air (although somewhat modified) swept southward down the eastern plains of New Mexico overnight behind our rapidly departing snow storm. Highs across the local area today are forecast to remain in the 20's and 30's. Lows tonight for the most part will be in the teens and twenties.

We get a break Monday and Tuesday with our afternoon highs climbing up into the 50's. Yet another blast of arctic air will surge southward down the eastern plains Tuesday night. Most of eastern and southeastern New Mexico will struggle to get out of the 20's for highs on Wednesday. Wind chill values will drop down into the single digits Wednesday into Thursday morning with some locations experiencing readings below zero.

A disturbance in the force may break off from the main jet stream flow and end up over the Baja Region by the end of next week. Whether or not it brings another round of wintry precipitation to the state is questionable yet.
