Why Are My Weather Posts Missing From Facebook.

Hello everyone. I just wanted to let you know that my Facebook page was shut down without any warning by Facebook this past Saturday, June 8th. All I was told was that I had violated their community standards. I don't know what triggered that; they didn't tell me. I was told this may be permanent or for six months.
My guess is that it may be because I posted several comments and articles from my Substack page about the riots in LA, and that must have triggered/angered someone, and they complained, thus Facebook shut me down. I don't know this as fact, though. I have appealed this decision, and I'm still waiting for their reply. I have read on X that this has happened to other Facebook users posting about the LA riots as well.
I always share my weather blog posts (that I post here) on my Facebook page and my X page. This included over twelve different New Mexico and West Texas Facebook Community sites. So there are thousands of you out there (based on my views and shares of those posts) who will no longer see those posts. My Facebook page may or may not be restored.
This is another good reason (as the National Weather Service often reminds us) to have multiple ways of receiving severe weather alerts when severe weather threatens your location. My weather web page is one of those ways, and I really appreciate all of you who have and still do use it. Thank you so much!!!
If my Facebook page is restored, I will continue to share my weather blog posts and some of the NWS Watches and Warnings...as I have been doing for years now.

As is often the case Cloudcroft is one of the wettest locations in the state and thus the case so far this year. Their National Weather Service Climate Co-Op Station reports 18.04" of rain so far this year. They recorded 8.34" during July.

Normal rainfall for Cloudcroft (8,750') in July is 5.53". Their normal year-to-date total is 14.55" through July 31st.

The Cloudcroft CoCoRaHS Station located 0.5 miles north-northwest reports a year-to-date total of 19.46". Their July total was 8.19".

The Sierra Blanca Snotel (10,280') located near Ski Apache west of Ruidoso is reporting 16.20" for the year so far.

Meanwhile down here in hell...the Pecos Valley, as well as the rest of the Southeastern Plains we haven't been so lucky this year. My year-to-date rainfall total here at our home in Carlsbad stands at 2.66". Using the Carlsbad Climate Co-Op Station data (1900-2021) our normal July rainfall is 2.03" and our year-to-date rainfall is 6.09".

Speaking of hell. Listed above are the number of days so far this year that these National Weather Service Climate Co-Op Stations have reached or exceeded 100º for daily high temperatures.

Here at our home in Carlsbad, I recorded 25 days in July that had high temps of 100º or higher. Bringing my year-to-date total to 47 days. My data is unofficial but accurate. My Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus sensors are located in my backyard, over Bermuda grass, and 5'6" above the ground.

Comments

  1. I haven’t checked my COCORAHS total for year but it has been a very dry and hot July.
