A southward moving cold front was located near a Clovis to Lubbock line at 1 PM this afternoon. Temperatures ahead of the front in southeastern New Mexico are in the mid 80's to the low 90's. Temperatures in northeastern New Mexico in the cooler air behind the front are in the low 60's to the low 70's.

Local Radars at 1:50 PM MDT show a cluster of thunderstorms forming along and ahead of the approaching cold front from northeast of Roswell to south of Carlsbad. These storms are generally moving off to the south and southwest. Rainfall rates in the stronger of these thunderstorms is around an inch per hour. Lightning strike data indicates some frequent cloud to ground strikes beginning to occur with some of these thunderstorms also.
