Low Water Crossing On Rocky Arroyo - St Hwy 137 NW Of Carlsbad.
The public reported of 5" - 7" of rain of rain Monday afternoon and early evening near where State Highway 137 crosses Rocky Arroyo in the photo above. It appeared to me that the greatest depth of floodwaters in the arroyo at this crossing was around 6' to 7' based on the waterline on the road.
Rainfall totals across the Pecos Valley from Carlsbad north to Lakewood/Seven Rivers, Atoka, Artesia, Lake Arthur, Dexter/Hagerman, and Roswell ranged from 2.00" to 5.00" The heaviest total I know of was the 7.00" reported northwest of Carlsbad near the St. Hwy 137 on Rocky Arroyo. 6.50" was also measured 4 miles west of US Hwy 285, west of Lake Arthur. Most of which fell in about 6 hours or less late Monday afternoon into Monday evening.
Looks like I called this event spot on. I mentioned in my previous blogs that I thought we would see widespread local rainfall totals of 1" to 4" with isolated localized totals of 6" to 10". 7.00" was the highest reported total and the highest radar estimated total.
