Mayhill, NM Being Evuacted Beause Of Fire!

Incident Name:  Mayhill 
Start Date & Time:  5/9 1400
Start Location:  2 miles west of Mayhill
Cause of Fire:  unknown
Area Vegetation: P/J
Acres Burned: +500
Ownership(s):  state and USFS
Structures Threatened:  Mayhill
Structures Burned: 2 - Unknown what type.

 Evacuations (Y or N & #): Mayhill and anything between Mayhill and state road 130 (Curtis Canyon)

 Situation: Fire started on highway 82 west of Mayhill and jumped state road 130. Highway 82 is closed at Cloudcroft and traffic is being diverted to state road 244. When school is released in Cloudcroft all students from the Mayhill/Sacramento/Weed area will remain at the school for parents to pick up.  Resources are being released from the Crooked Creek Complex to assist with fire suppression.

New Mexico State Forestry reports several new fire starts today.

1.   Incident Name:  Raging Bull   

 Start Date & Time:  5/9 1100
Start Location:  Highway 82 mm 149 5 miles east of Maljamar
Cause of Fire:  unknown  
Area Vegetation: grass
Acres Burned: +3,000    Ownership(s):  state and private          
Structures Threatened: 1 possible    Structures Burned: 0
Evacuations (Y or N & #): Unk    Containment: 0%

Situation: The fire has jumped highway 82 east of Maljamar and the highway is closed. High winds are driving the fire to the northeast. There is a ranch house about a mile away and could be threatened if the fire continues to grow.

2.  Incident Name:  Unknown       Start Date & Time:  5/9 1245
Start Location:  West side of Roswell   Cause of Fire:  unknown
Area Vegetation: grass   Acres Burned: unknown
Ownership(s):  state and private     Incident Commander:  Salas (Roswell FD)
Structures Threatened:  Not at this time.
Structures Burned: unknown
Evacuations (Y or N & #): Evacuations have been lifted.

Situation: The fire started on the relief route on the West side of Roswell and is running toward Roswell. Evacuation of the the Gateway Baptist Church has been lifted and the fire is in mop up.
