A cold front was located roughly along a Las Vegas-Vaughn-Elida-Seagraves line at 4: 30 PM MST. A colder airmass will accompany this front as it continues to push southward overnight. Bringing some of the coldest temps of the season so far for some areas.
A Cold Weather Advisory (formerly Wind Chill Advisory) has been issued for parts of the southwestern mountains and the Sacramento mountains of the state for late tonight into Tuesday morning. Wind chill values are forecast to drop down into the 0F to -5F range. Bundle up the kiddos for school in the morning and protect your pets and pipes.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for parts of far Northeastern New Mexico including the Raton Pass, and Johnson and Bartlett Messas. New snowfall totals of 1" to 4" are forecast with 6" to 8" near the Colorado border.
A few snow flurries could make it as far south (maybe) as the Roswell area but nothing to get excited about. Low temperatures across southeastern New Mexico tonight will be in the 30's. Highs on Tuesday will be in the mid-upper 40's. Lows Wednesday morning will hover near 20. That's ok with me because there are still too many bugs floating around SE NM.
Lows tonight and Wednesday morning across the Sac's will be in the teens. Wind chill temps will drop down to around 0F so bundle up...especially tomorrow morning.
For now, winter seems to have taken her business elsewhere leaving New Mexico out of the major storm tracks. Sadly this does not look to change anytime soon. This might change around the 20th...maybe, maybe not.
