Arctic air eased southward overnight into the local area of Southeastern New Mexico and West Texas. The frontal boundary will ease back to the north and east this afternoon and stall. Thus most locations west of the Pecos River should warm up into the low 70's this afternoon.
Tonight a stronger surge southward and westward of the arctic air mass is forecast to occur. By sunrise Sunday morning many of us will see temperatures dropping down into the 20's and teens. Forecast high temperatures Sunday afternoon are only expected to be near 40ĀŗF which will be some 15 to 20-degrees below normal for the date. A slow warm up will commence by Monday with highs in the 50's forecast.
