Carlsbad, New Mexico Landspout Tornadoes - May 29, 2025.

Courtesy Of Sherry Buchanan-Black. Scattered thunderstorms developed over and east of the Sacramento mountains on Thursday by noontime. A few of these became severe in the early afternoon. One of these thunderstorms became severe as it approached Carlsbad from the southwest. The Midland National Weather Service Office issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for East Central Eddy County at 2:53 PM MDT, including Carlsbad. The thunderstorm was moving eastward at only 10 mph and was located over the city. Multiple Landspout tornadoes developed east and southeast of the city. I don't know exactly how many developed, but there were at least two of them side by side at times. Many people in and around Carlsbad saw them.
