For Carlsbad, New Mexico.
After a cold morning we will slowly warm up this afternoon. A trend that will continue until Thanksgiving. For now it appears that our local weather will be rather eventful and warm for Thanksgiving week with high tempers here in southeastern New Mexico warming up into the 60's and 70's.
What happens afterwards is up for grabs. Model mayhem continues and will likely continue for a few more days. A cold and strong winter storm will likely affect much of the Western and Southwestern US from mid-week into next weekend. But just exactly what it brings to New Mexico and surrounding areas is still up in the air. Arctic air will likely work its way into the state late next week to complicate matters also.
As if this wasn't enough some of the long range models are predicting that a Tropical Storm will pop up well south of Baja Mexico, get pulled northward and possibly sling a lot of tropical and subtropical moisture our way, and up over the top of the arctic air late next week into the weekend.
Thunderstorms, rain some of which could be heavy, and a mixed bag of wintry precipitation including rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow all look possible late next week into the weekend. But trying to figure out where, and how much at this time is impossible. This one has the potential to be a Major Winter Storm so keep checking back. Thanks for stopping by! :)
