Why Does COVID-19 Sound Familiar? Is history in the process of repeating itself? I believe it is. We've seen this movie before but none of us (including me or anyone I know) was alive to see the original. We are however living the nightmare of the sequel.  I used a number of online sources to come up with the article I wrote below and pieced together below including YouTube Videos  and  Wikipedia . It was caused by an H1N1 virus with genes of avian origin (bird flu). Come Monday our high temperatures are forecast to soar up into the upper 90's. A few spots very well may hit the century mark for the first time this year. Daily record highs look to be tied or possibly broken across the local area Monday and Tuesday and maybe again next Friday. Thunderstorms could possibly return next weekend but that's too far away to be sure for now. The Tru

RTMA Temperatures. At 7 AM MDT This Tuesday Morning. Reported Low Temperatures Tuesday Morning. A Cold April Morning In New Mexico. With snow cover over parts of New Mexico this morning the thermometer fell out in many places. Some single-digit lows were reported in the northern mountains. Here in Carlsbad, I dropped down to 37ºF.  The Carlsbad Airport  reported 36ºF which is chilly compared to the normal for the date of 46ºF. But that's not even close to the record low of 24ºF set at the airport back in 1933. By the way on April 14th, 1928 the Carlsbad Climate Co-Op Station recorded 7" of snow on the ground.  GFS 16-Day Temperature Forecasts Roswell. Carlsbad. Sierra Blanca Regional Airport. (Near Ruidoso). For now, anyway, the models are calling for much warmer temperatures for the near-term and extended period. Let's see how long that lasts.  New Mexico Reported Snowfall Totals.
