Complaining about our early fall heat won't do much good but like you, I've had enough. My high-temperature today at our home in Carlsbad, New Mexico reached 99. This will change on Thursday as our next strong cold front knocks our daytime high temps down by some 20 to 30 degrees compared to today's readings.

Surface Map Forecast.

Valid At 6 AM MDT Thursday, Oct 15, 2020.

Early this Wednesday afternoon a strong cold front was located in southeastern Colorado headed southbound. This cold front will blast through SE NM and W TX between midnight tonight and sunrise Thursday morning. Northerly winds gusting around 40 mph will kick up blowing dust which will reduce the visibility along and behind the cold front for a few hours. So expect to see another dusty sunrise Thursday morning locally.

GFS 10-Day Temperature Forecast.

Long-range forecasts continue to offer hope for cooling down towards more seasonal temperatures with time. We will continue to ride the thermometer seesaw for a while though with no hope for rain or snow locally. It appears that our first freeze won't be anytime soon either.

The Truth Is Stranger Than Fiction!
