Particulary Dangerous Fire Weather Conditions Today!

Another Fire Broke Out Just North Of Lakewood
Yesterday Afternoon. This Fire Started Along Hwy 285
About 13 Miles South Of Artesia And Burned To The
Northeast. My Brother Says That It Burned About 300
Acres Of His Ranch-land Pasture. The Photos Are

Another episode of high winds, blowing dust, and a Potentially Life Threatening Fire Weather Event is slated for SE NM & W TX today.

A High Wind Warning continues in effect for the Guadalupe Mountains, and across Lincoln and Southwestern Chaves County. n As well as orthward and eastward into the Eastern Plains of the state. Westerly winds are forecast to be sustained at around 35-45 mph with gusts in the neighborhood of 60-65 mph in these areas today.

A Wind Advisory continues in effect for the lower elevations of southeastern and southern New Mexico today. Westerly winds are forecast to be sustained at around 25-35 mph with gusts in the neighborhood of 45-50 mph.

Areas of blowing dust are forecast to occur across the area today...with the more dust prone locations possibly experiencing visibilities dropping down to less than one mile. Sudden drops in the visibility down to near zero with little to no advanced warning will be possible near freshly plowed or open farmlands, fields, lots, and construction sites.

The Truth Is Stranger Than Fiction!
