It was pretty cool to wake up to thunder this morning in Carlsbad from 4:30 through 6:30 AM. I still have moderate rain falling at 7 AM.

- Heavy rainfall in showers/storms across the area today through Friday
  will likely result in ponding of water and flash flooding in
  low-lying, sloped, and poor drainage regions.

- Warmer and drier following rain chances tapering off Saturday, but
  remaining humid across the Permian Basin into Terrell County.

- Slow moving storms with heavy rainfall may create localized
  flash flooding along and east of the central mountain chain each
  afternoon and evening through Saturday. Areas that have
  received multiple days of heavy rain will be at highest risk for
  flooding, including urban locations and near burn scars.

- Scattered light showers and isolated dry thunderstorms over
  parts of western New Mexico will threaten strong and erratic
  gusty winds, dry lightning, and risk of new fire starts Friday
  and Saturday.

- Thunderstorm chances expected through and Friday. Chances for
  isolated storms Saturday in the Sacramento Mountains, but dry
  elsewhere.

- Gusty outflow winds, flooding, and even some hail possible with
  storms. Continued risks for flooding from storms possible again
  tonight and Friday.

- Drier and warmer on Sunday through Wednesday with many lowland
  areas seeing their first 100 degree days.
