Blog updated at 8:45 PM MDT.
Temperatures at noon MDT today show a wide range across the cold front. The initial frontal boundary had raced southward during the morning, and was located south of Hobbs, NM by noontime. However, in doing so, it has outran the deeper and colder air mass behind it. The leading edge of the colder air mass was just entering northeastern New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle at noontime. Not to worry trust me, tomorrow will feel more winter-like than spring-like.

This is just so wrong for the 1st of May. The coldest air is
still locked up in northeast New Mexico and the Texas Panhandle, but will surge
southward after sunset. Check out the current temps across the area as of 3 PM
MDT.
Most of southeastern New Mexico will not make
it out of the 40's tomorrow. My current temp in Carlsbad at 4:25 PM is 96. Our high
temps tomorrow will be some 40 - 50 degrees colder when compared to today's
readings. Incredible!
A Wind Advisory remains in effect for the area until Noon MDT
tomorrow. North to northeast winds of 25 - 35 mph with gusts to 55 mph are
forecast tonight into tomorrow morning. Areas of blowing dust will reduce the
visibility down to less than 3 miles tonight, and in some spots less than 1
mile.
Snow is now in the Clovis, New Mexico forecast.
Wind chill values tomorrow morning will be in the 20's. A Freeze Watch remains in effect for Thursday night into Friday
morning. Lows Friday morning will be in the 20's.
