Rain showers and thunderstorms were widespread over the southeastern plains, Guadalupe, Sacramento, and Capitan mountains yesterday afternoon into the overnight hours. A few light showers linger this morning.
Very heavy rain fell over parts of northern Lea County last night, mainly between Lovington and Tatum. The Tatum 1.7 SW CoCoRaHS Station measured 2.98". Radar estimates noted even higher totals west through north of Lovington generally in the 3" - 5" range. Flash Flood Warnings were issued by the Midland NWS Office for northern Lea County.
Update @ 6:09 PM MDT: Local residents in Tatum are reporting via Facebook that rainfall totals in Tatum ranged from 3.00" to 4.20".
