Records To Fall By The Wayside Today

Record Warmth Today.

This month will go down in the history books as being one for the extreme range in our temperatures here in southeastern New Mexico. Forecast highs today range from the low-mid 80's. This means that several long standing records for the date may be in jeopardy of falling.

Record High Temps For Feb 16th-

Roswell ThreadEX 81 1904
Artesia Climate 82 2000
Carlsbad Climate 87 1904
Carlsbad Airport 79 1958
Hobbs Climate 79 2000 (+ earlier yrs)
Tatum 79 2000

Southwesterly winds sustained at around 15-20 mph with gusts near 30 mph will kick up by noontime today. Thursday looks to be even windier with southwesterly winds of 25-30G45 mph across the southeastern plains. Areas of blowing dust will fill our skies tomorrow and reduce the visibility.  This will be especially true near freshly plowed or open farmland, fields, lots, and construction sites.

The Truth Is Stranger Than Fiction!
