  1. Brrrr! Those lows are mostly as cold as me (and most of Abq).

    Would enjoy learning more on what is a frost vs. a hard freeze, at least as to low temperature and duration. Interesting topic every spring and fall!

  2. I'm glad to see a hard freeze...maybe it got some of the flies and other bugs here in the Pecos Valley this morning.

    David a frost can occur with temps slightly above freezing. It does not necessarily have to reach 32 to have frost. The exposed objects that the frost forms on will reach that temp, but the ambient air temp may be a couple of degrees warmer than 32.

    A hard freeze occurs whenever the temperature drops down to 28 or colder, and stays there for at least 4 hours. This then becomes a killing freeze by definition.
