Cooler Temps For The Next Couple Of Days.

Things got a little interesting across West Texas last night. Tornado Watch #874 was issued by the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) for much of West Texas, from 9:20 PM CST until 5:00 AM CST. Several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued by the Midland National Weather Service Office as well as a Tornado Warning. A spotter 11 miles west-northwest of Midland, reported nickel size hail covering the ground, making it look as though it had snowed at 11:46 PM CST.

A dry Pacific cold front moved eastward through the local area last night. A re-enforcing shot of cooler air is working its way down the eastern plains of New Mexico this morning. Winter Weather Advisories are out for today across the state's northern mountains and northeastern plains.

The latest National Weather Service forecasts keep southeastern New Mexico on the cool side into Thursday. Highs today should range from 61 in the Roswell and Artesia areas, to 62 in Hobbs and 63 in Carlsbad.

Tonight will be chilly, with lows tomorrow morning  expected to be in the upper 20's to near 30. Highs tomorrow are forecast to be mostly in the low-mid 50's, with Thursday's highs in the upper 50's to the low 60's across southeastern New Mexico.

A warming trend will commence starting Friday with our afternoon highs climbing back up into the upper 60's to near 70. As yet another upper-level storm takes aim on the state this weekend, we can expect to see an increase in southwesterly winds on Saturday which will help drive our highs up into the mid 70's to near 80 range.
