So far, this latest potent Winter Storm to hammer the local area has behaved as was pretty much expected this morning. As I had mentioned in this mornings blog, somebody in SE NM and W TX would get clobbered it was just a matter of who...and the who was Hobbs, Seminole, Andrews, and the Midland/Odessa areas.
I measured a total of 0.9" of snowfall here at my home in Carlsbad today. My maximum snow depth on the ground was at 8 AM this morning with just a dusting (1/4") on the grass. Sadly our snow melted as it fell, and at times was mixed in with light rain. My liquid precipitation has amounted to .15" so far today.
So much for this storm...it will be history soon. I'm already taking a long look at the models which are indicating the potential for yet another significant Winter Storm for the state by this upcoming weekend. One thing for sure, this is going to be a winter to remember here in SE NM.
