Fall Freeze Data For New Mexico

Snow Across SE NM Tonight.

As of 3:30 PM MST this afternoon snow was increasing over eastern New Mexico, and was moving southeastward. Looking at the latest Water Vapor and Visible Satellite images it appears to me that the upper level storm which was centered over the Four Corners Region, was moving a little slower, and further to the west than the models had been forecasting. This should help to increase our chances for snow in southeastern New Mexico tonight into Monday morning.

Snowfall totals of up to 2" are forecast for the Roswell area, and up to 1/2" for the Artesia, Carlsbad, and Hobbs areas. Ruidoso is looking at picking up 1" - 3" of snow while the higher elevations of the Sacramento mountains could get up to 6". A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Lincoln and Chaves Counties.

  1. Clearing line just miles NW of me, now. No rain, no snow, not even one flurry or drop...just a few bouts of blowing dust. But maybe more over the mountains, that will slide down to your area?
